Earlier today, we detected an attempt to use our service to spam a large number of unsuspecting people. We acted quickly to contain the incident and stopped it from doing further damage.
As a result, we are taking an immediate measure to temporarily disable sharing to your email contacts until we introduce safeguards to prevent this from happening in the future. Sharing to Twitter is not affected by this change.
Be assured we’ll re-enable it pretty soon — we love that feature too! Follow our twitter account to be the first to know when it’s back on.

You can now “star” any link you sent, received or bookmarked. Use it to track favorites or a dropbox for shares you want to read in the future. Just another way of managing your discoveries.

Last week we launched two new features in Sharein.
The first is Twitter integration. You can now share links not only via email but also via Twitter. We’ll take your link and shorten it using our URL Shortening Service at tr.my. So anytime you see the tr.my link you’ll know that it’s a Sharein link. What we like best about sharing via Twitter is that you can get more insight into how people are consuming your discovery. We track total views, retweets and mentions of your posting and help you better understand how viral your discovery is.
The second is inline email commenting. Previously you had to go to the content and access comments via the ShareBar at the top. Now you can reply to comments directly from within your email client. For example, if you received a share at your GMail account, you can respond directly by clicking on Gmail’s “reply” button.
There are plenty more features coming including Facebook integration. We postponed this just a little bit further on account of Facebook’s new Open Stream API. We are anxiously waiting for the API to get out of “beta” before we launch it. Stay tuned.

We have decided to push out new features and bug fixes on a more aggressive schedule. The plan is to do a deploy twice a week so that we don’t sit too long on launching useful new features and bug fixes. This translates to you receiving constant enhancements and fixes as we gather feedback from you. Continue sending them in at support@sharein.com.
Today’s downtime will approximately be for 30 minutes. I’ll update this blog post when we start the actual deployment.
Update 11:00PM PST: The deployment has started.
Update 11:06PM PST: The deployment is completed. That was quick!

We’ve had an incredible amount of feedback since we launched last weekend. Our team has fixed a bunch of bugs and made some changes to the site that we think you’ll like.
We’ll be rolling it out this Monday at midnight PST so hang tight. I will post a follow up entry after the maintenance is done with the details of what’s new on the site.
As always, we look forward to hearing from you. It’s easy - just email us at support@sharein.com. We read and respond to each and every email.
Update: We’re running a little behind schedule by about 15-30 minutes.
Update 2: The maintenance went by smoothly and the site is now up.

Welcome to Sharein.com, sharing content on the web made easy.
This is our first private release. While it’s got only a small subset of all the features we want to release, we think you’ll enjoy it. In the next weeks you will see plenty of new features including connectivity to Facebook, Twitter and more.
We look forward to your feedback (support@sharein.com) on bugs or features you’d like us to build/improve on. You can also send your feedback or just chat with our friendly staff at help.sharein.com.
Sharing is caring. So share your favorite discoveries to the people you love and God bless.
