The ShareIn team has grown quickly over the last couple of years. It’s our amazing people that make the magic happen. In our meet the team section we aim to tell you a little more about the people behind the scenes. This week we talked to Mark Howitt.
Who are you?
My name is Mark Howitt, and I’m the Head of Finance at ShareIn. I’m a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience in the finance sector. Prior to joining ShareIn I successfully ran my own accounting, taxation and business support consultancy for nearly 20 years.
What do you do at ShareIn?
I’m responsible for the firm’s financial control and reporting, which involves providing support to our white label crowdfunding and appointed representative clients on taxation and product structure, as well as liaising with a variety of external partners such as payment solution provider MangoPay.
Is ShareIn part of the UKCFA?
Yes, of course – ShareIn is a founding member, and in June of 2018 I was appointed as director of the UKCFA. Many of our clients are also members or supporters of the UKCFA – Triodos Bank, Ethex, Simple Crowdfunding, and Crowd with Us.
What’s something you would like to tell people about ShareIn that perhaps they don’t know?
Our office is a great example of late 1960s Brutalist architecture and has a fantastic view of Edinburgh Castle. Also, when I started working at ShareIn two years ago there were seven of us. We have now grown to a team of 24 – 15 of whom are women – representing 13 different nationalities.
Tell us an interesting fact about you?
I enjoy the challenge and camaraderie of road cycling, participate in sportives. Recently I cycled to the top of Mont Ventoux. And down again.
